Weekend Roundup - Saturday 26 September 2026
22 of us out across 10 parkruns from Liverpool to Leeds, a course PB for Aaron Stones, and trail races at Ladybower and Delamere Forest.
π Parkrun
22 of us were out at parkrun on Saturday, spread across 10 venues from Liverpool to Leeds. It was a real exploring weekend too, with 7 members running a course for the first time.
Alexandra (Moss Side)
Kath Biddle was tail walker at Alexandra, bringing up the rear and making sure everyone got round safely. Thanks Kath π
Bolton
Gerard Tucker had a good morning at Bolton, taking on the course at Leverhulme Park.
Clarence
Stephen Crowe was back at his regular home of Clarence and put in a strong run.
Congleton
Rachel Bailey made the trip down to Congleton and ran brilliantly on a mix of tarmac and trail paths at Astbury Mere Country Park. She had the best company of anyone too, with her mum Elaine right alongside her the whole way round.
Cross Flatts
Angela Pradena was our furthest east this week and enjoyed a lovely parkwalk on her first visit to Cross Flatts, on an all-tarmac course through the park in south Leeds.
Croxteth Hall
Derek Case and Fiona Case headed over to Liverpool for their first go at Croxteth Hall, on tarmac and trail paths through the grounds of the old estate. They both had a great morning of it.
Heaton
The biggest group of the weekend was at Heaton, and Aaron Stones headed up the pack in style π He took a new course PB and finished 2nd in his age category too, a cracking morning's work. Jamie Dobson and John Bradford were both in great form close behind. Dale Richards ran strongly, and Paul Heathcote and Jacqui Warden both had a fine morning out on the course. Jane Grantham and Chris Grayshon completed the Heaton contingent, both representing the group well.
Kingsway Park, Urmston
4 of us had a new course to discover this week, and all 4 made their Kingsway Park debut together. Neil Naisbitt was first of the group home, with Delphine Bugarel, Helen Naisbitt and Anna Swailes all having a great outing on their first visit to Urmston.
Peel
Tracy Wroe and Rachael Fiske both headed to Peel and had a good morning out on the course.
Sale Water
Martyn James had a fine morning out at Sale Water.
π Races
Saturday 26 September
Ladybower Reservoir Trails Half Marathon
Paula Crosland swapped Saturday parkrun for the hills of the Peak District at Ladybower. The half marathon is a clockwise loop around the reservoir and the hills above it, on reservoir-side paths, forest tracks and rolling trails. There are some proper climbs along the way, and they're rewarded with sweeping views across Ladybower, Derwent Reservoir and the Upper Derwent Valley. Brilliant running, Paula π
Sunday 27 September
Wildwood Trail Series 10k, Delamere Forest
On Sunday morning Hannah McCandless headed into the Cheshire woods for the Wildwood Trail 10k at Delamere Forest. It's a single lap through dense woodland on rolling forest trails, with climbs, muddy sections and some lovely views along the way. Great running, Hannah π
A weekend of new courses and big views, from Liverpool to Leeds, up into the Peak District and out into the Cheshire woods. Well done everyone ππββοΈπββοΈ
