Weekend Roundup - 16 May 2026

25 runners across 6 parkruns, from Heaton Park to Copenhagen, plus Kath Biddle's first 100km at the Jurassic Coast Ultra.

🏃 Parkrun

A big weekend of running for the group - 25 of us out at 6 different parkruns on Saturday, from the familiar paths of Heaton Park right through to the meadows and wetlands of Copenhagen. Brilliant efforts all round, with some great achievements to celebrate.

Amager Fælled

What a venue to tick off the list! Steve Crowe had already made the most of a midweek trip to Denmark by running a special Ascension Day parkrun on Thursday - and then returned on Saturday for Amager Fælled, one of Copenhagen's most historic events. This is the longest-running parkrun outside the UK, taking in a flat and fast two-lap course on gravel and sandy trails through a former military nature park full of meadows, wetlands and small lakes. Steve went even quicker on Saturday than he had on Thursday, topping his VM65-69 age category into the bargain. A double Danish weekend done right!

Bramhall

Dale Richards headed over to Bramhall for the first time on Saturday, running well on what is a lovely course in Stockport. Great to see you flying the flag out there, Dale!

Clarence

Neil Naisbitt led the group home at Clarence with a superb run, topping his age category. Andrew Whitehead wasn't far behind and clocked a course PB at Clarence - a great effort. Alison Whitehead rounded off a strong morning with a solid run to complete a great set of results.

Heaton Park

13 of us at Heaton on Saturday for a morning full of highlights! Michael Aiken was first of the group home with another strong run. Kate Myers had a brilliant morning - landing a course PB and finishing 3rd in her age category among 29 runners. A real double to celebrate!

Nick Coleman, Paul Cox and Paul Jenkinson all ran strongly through the field. Lucie Tighe was out with her daughter Gracie, who absolutely smashed it - taking 4 minutes off her PB. Brilliant running, Gracie!

Jacqui Warden, Chris Grayshon, Tanja Brajkovic, Jane Grantham, Ros Dines and Angela Pradena all put in great efforts across the field, with Chris rounding off the group on what was a very busy morning at Heaton.

After the run there was a lovely team effort off the course too - Tanja, Kate, Nick and Paul Cox helped Paul Jenkinson complete his run leader training video. Looking forward to welcoming Paul to the run leader team soon!

Kingsway Park, Urmston

Four of us headed west to Kingsway Park for what was only the 3rd ever running of this brand new event in Urmston - quite the occasion to be part of! Aaron Stones was first back for the group, followed closely by Chris Kinsey, with Fiona Case and Derek Case completing a really solid turnout on the new course.

Peel

Over at Peel, Julie Smith was first of the group home with a good run on what is always a popular course. Paul Heathcote and Tracy Wroe both put in excellent efforts to round off a fine set of results from the group.

🏅 Races

Saturday 16 May

Jurassic Coast Ultra Challenge

Kath Biddle took on the Jurassic Coast Ultra Challenge - an extraordinary 100km route tracing the UNESCO World Heritage coastline from Corfe Castle all the way to Bridport, with over 2,300 metres of climbing through some of the most spectacular scenery in the country. And this was Kath's first ever 100km. What an achievement - we're incredibly proud of you, Kath!

Sunday 17 May

Chester Half Marathon

Michael Aiken rounded off a brilliant weekend in style - having run Heaton parkrun on Saturday morning, he was back racing on Sunday for the Chester Half Marathon, a superb and scenic event weaving through the history of one of the country's most beautiful cities. Outstanding stuff, Mike!
