Weekend Roundup - 10 May 2026

19 runners across 7 parkruns, overall PBs for Aaron Stones and Paula Crosland, a debut for Laura Tomkins, and Sunday trail races for Delphine Bugarel and Paula Crosland.

πŸƒ Parkrun

What a brilliant weekend of running! 19 of us were out at 7 different parkruns on Saturday morning, with 2 more pulling on their trail shoes on Sunday for some properly testing race action.

Chipping Norton School parkrun

Alison Whitehead made the trip down to Oxfordshire for a first taste of Chipping Norton School parkrun - a course set within the school grounds of a classic Cotswolds market town, run on a mix of grass, trail paths and broad track. A lovely corner of the country to be running on a Saturday morning!

Clarence parkrun

Five of us headed to Clarence this week. Neil Naisbitt led the group home with a strong run, followed by a solid outing from Stephen Crowe. Helen Naisbitt ran well too. The warmest moment of the morning goes to Mike Aiken and Lucie Tighe, who both had their children alongside them for the 5k - a lovely way to spend a Saturday and make some memories on the run. πŸ’œ

Fell Foot parkrun, Newby Bridge

Paul Stevens made the journey up to Cumbria for Fell Foot parkrun - one of the most scenic events in the country, set within Fell Foot Park on the southern shores of Lake Windermere. The course is a beautifully undulating figure-of-eight on a mix of grass, tarmac and gravel paths with the lake never far from view. A wonderful venue to take on!

Heaton parkrun

Nine of us were out at Heaton this week - a great turnout. Aaron Stones headed up the pack and celebrated the morning in style with an overall PB. Brilliant running, Aaron! πŸ‘ Paul Cox and Laura Tomkins crossed the line in quick succession right behind him.

And a very special mention for Laura - Saturday was her very first parkrun! What a debut. We hope Saturday mornings have just taken on a whole new meaning. πŸŽ‰

Paula Crosland was in superb form and recorded an overall PB at Heaton - a fantastic achievement at a course she knows as well as anyone. Huge congratulations, Paula! πŸ‘

Dale Richards had another great outing at Heaton, while Kath Biddle took on pacing duties for the morning - guiding runners home to the 29-minute mark with real precision. Alongside her, Chris took the 45-minute slot and kept a group together all the way to the finish. A brilliant contribution from both of them to the event.

Chris Grayshon ran well and had a solid morning at Heaton, and Angela Pradena enjoyed a lovely parkwalk to round out the group.

Hyndburn parkrun

Delphine Bugarel was over in Accrington at Hyndburn parkrun, running well on a tarmac and trail course at Wilson Playing Fields - with one eye already on Sunday's trail adventure (more on that below)!

Ormskirk parkrun

Andrew Whitehead was over at Ormskirk for a first visit - a varied course set across the grounds of Edge Hill University, taking in trail paths, tarmac and rubberised track. One of Lancashire's busier Saturday morning events and a great one to have in the bag.

Peel parkrun

Tracy Wroe had a fine morning at Peel, flying the flag in familiar surroundings at one of the group's favourite local parkruns.

πŸ… Races

Delphine Bugarel - Happy Valley Trail Half Marathon

Not content with Saturday's parkrun, Delphine was back in her trail shoes on Sunday for the Happy Valley Trail Half Marathon, organised by Bollington Harriers in Cheshire. This is a seriously demanding race - the course climbs up and over Kerridge Ridge and Sponds Hill before a sting in the tail up White Nancy, with around 770 metres of total ascent through farmland, rocky descents and beautiful Cheshire woodland. A stunning event and a huge effort - well done, Delphine! πŸ…

Paula Crosland - Scorton Trail Race 15k

Paula Crosland was in action on Sunday too, taking on the Scorton Trail Race 15k in the Forest of Bowland - a cracking Lancashire event that heads out from the village of Scorton and climbs to the summit of Nicky Nook, with sweeping views across most of the county on a mix of tracks and fields. Brilliant running to round off the weekend, Paula! πŸ…

From the Cotswolds to Cumbria and out into the Forest of Bowland - what a weekend of running across some brilliant corners of the country. πŸ’œπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ
